Art Alba Gallery, Sun Ying Centre, Aberdeen, Hong Kong
Ceramic, 20 x 18 x 7 cm, 2022.
In 1907, Pablo Picasso painted the remarkable work he called "my brothel". Initially divisive, controversial and disliked, it is now seen as one of the masterpieces of modern art and the first proto-Cubist painting. Discreetly renamed as "Les Demoiselles d'Avignon" (the young ladies of Avignon), it is now one of the treasures in the Museum of Modern Art in New York.
This work reimagines Picasso's vision as it changes, altering both his own and the world's perception of reality.
Ceramic sculpture hand painted in a remarkably intense shade of blue, incorporating KASM's trademark humour and depth. Unique piece from his "Re-Klein" series of works.
With saltire monogram and signed on base.
