Zhou Jun 周军 (born in 1965 in Nanjing) is known for his series – Scaffoldings; Bird’s Nest project; The Red and the Black – featuring large Chinese cities and their red streamers wrapped around under-construction buildings; an effect that he obtains through digital manipulation. Created since 1992, his photographs mainly treat the conflicting relationships between Chinese traditional architecture and contemporary buildings while continuously challenging the symbolic nature of the red colour.
